The second day hiking to Nagarkot is long day walking mostly inside dense forest. Day offer scenic green landscape, mountain, local field with seasonable harvest.     • Day 01:Drive to Sundarijal (1 Hrs) and trek to Chisapani via Mulkharka (6 Hours - 2350m) Overnight at local hotel
    • Day 02:Trek to Nagarkot (7 Hours - 2195,) Overnight at Hotel

      After breakfast in Hotel, drive to Sundaring. The drive is about is about an hour. Sundarijal is he major water supply spot for people in Kathmandu as well as picnic spot. From here we start our climbing uphill route towards Chisapani via dense forest of Shivapuri National Park. Enjoy spectacular view of Himalayas, forest and villages with beautiful paddy fields. 

    • Day 02:Trek to Nagarkot (7 Hours - 2195,) Overnight at Hotel

      The is long day of walking required a bit extra strength. The trail start is gentle downhill walk through newly constructed unpaved road. The whole walk will take us inside Shivapuri National Park. We will have beautiful views of spectacular Himalayas as well. Beautiful sounds of birds and streams next to us will also add more fun in the trip. We will stop in a small village called Jhule for lunch before continuing further to Nagarkot. We will pass through several villages in the hills before climbing steep uphill to reach Nagarkot. Nagarkot is touristic hill station near Kathmandu. facilities of simple to deluxe hotels are available here. 

    • Day 03:Trek to Dhulikhel (5/6 hours - 1,550 miters) and drive back to Kathmandu by private car

      Early in the morning hike to great sunrise and mountain view point.  After breakfast start hiking to Dhulikhel. It is easy hiking from Nagarkot to Dhulikhel. The hiking trail is a wonderful route to see landscape, mountain views, cultural local villages and lifestyles of local peoples. Once you reach at Dhulikhel, it has option to hike more till 1000 step Buddha. Also have option to stay overnight here. In this plan, we drive back to Kathmandu

    Best Time for the hiking Kathmandu valley 

    Hiking around Kathmandu valley for 3 days is doable all round the year. Although trekking route feels difficult to walk in monsoon season. But the season of Autumn, Spring and winter is perfect time to choose this hiking. Since the hiking route is not much in the altitude, the route is all clear without any sleepary ice on the way even in the winter months. Hiking from month of March till May is more charm of the route because of blooming flowers. Temperature may fall down till the minus during the winter time in Nagarkot and Chisapani only during the night. Days temperature is warm enough. Months of spring and Autumn, you feel hot during the day with sunny weather.

    Accommodation Facilities along the hiking trail

    During 3 days hiking around the Kathmandu valley, accommodation on your first day that in Chisapani is only available local lodges. We will use best available one. The second day of accommodation in Nagarkot is based on 3* category hotel as our trip cost mentioned in the page. There is option to upgrade 4 or 5 star hotel in Nagarkot. You have option to make your accommodation upgrading. We accordingly will change the accommodation and it also change in your trip cost.

    What to bring - Packing list

    It depends when you are hiking. Months of Autumn and Spring is hot temperature. During the day time, you will hike with very light cloth. Only at morning and evening in Chisapani and in Nagarkot may need light full body covering cloth. You can expect the maximum temperature 34 degree and minimum 15 degree. During the winter months (December till February) the average temperature is maximum 10 degree and minimum minus 1. You accordingly need to pack your clothes.

    In our plan and cost, a professional hiking guide with knowledge of local places is including. Since it is only 3 days hiking plan and you do not need to carry much thing. So that porter is not including in the cost. If it is require to hire a personal porter for you to carry your small bag to walk freely, we can provide you porter in extra cost.

    Extra places to include in your plan

    On the way back from Dhulikhel to Kathmandu by private car driving, there is place to add like Shiva Statue Saga. It also called Kailashnath Mahadev Statue which is the second tallest Shiva statue in the world. It is currently the fifth tallest Hindu deity statue., Another possibilities to add in your plan is Bhaktapur Durbar squire. One of the oldest and biggest Durbar squire is UNESCO heritage site. Pashupatinath temple or Bouddhanath stupa is also the another option to add in your plan. Trip cost after adding any of these places may change.

    Extend your itinerary from 3 days hiking

    Kathmandu valley provide different experience in hiking too. There are continue other destination to extent your 3 days hiking itinerary from 4 or 5 days. You can add Dhulikhel to Namobuddha hiking plan to make all total 4 days and can add another 2 days Namobuddha, Balthali and Panauti to make all total 5 days hiking plan around Kathmandu valley. All the places around the Kathmandu valley get different experience of local peoples, their activities, Himalayan rages, local heritage sites, temples and Monasteries.

    Chisapani and Nagarkot with driving plan

    If you are not able to plan hiking, you also have option to drive instead of it. A jeep driving path is connected from Kathmandu to Chisapani. One overnight there or just to visit the place. Another driving is from Chisapani to Nagarkot. Both the hill station provides nice views of Mountain rages and valley. It is out of crowded and dust. Nagarkot also provide a far view of Mount Everest is clear weather with best sunrise view.

    • Hiking is a shorter, easier journey, commonly walked on looped marked trails, to-and-back, or even destination hikes. Trekking always involves a specific destination. A trekking path goes through different, often rough terrains and requires more equipment and preparedness of the person doing it. Hiking route does not reach much altitude but trekking route may reach in the altitude. To make a experience in the hiking does not need previous experience but most of the trekking need previous experience to finish it properly. 

    • maximum elevation of this hiking reach Chisapani altitude of 2350 meters. Nagarkot is 2195 meters altitude. We start our hiking from 1400 meters Kathmandu. The fist day by crossing 950 meters. Very rare hikers feel altitude sickness in Chisapani. It is about 6 hours hiking slowing growing the elevation so that it helps to adjust.

    • The first day of the hiking from Sundarijal to Chisapani consider quite challenging since we have to cross about 950 meter altitude. But the hiking trail is not longer and it is shlow going. The second day hiking is quite easy with most of the down hill but longer. For the hiking habit peopels, the route is easy.
