Kathmandu to Salleri or Phaplu is about 270 kilometers takes 8 hours by private jeep. Driving route is through Dhulikhel Khurkot – Ghurmi Madya Pahadi highway. Salleri and Phaplu is lower part of Khumbu region. If you want to trek Everest region without flying, drive to Salleri or Phaplu is the best optional and trek another 4 days to reach Namche Bazar. Kharikhola is another 19 kilometers from Salleri. Since the road is all gravel mountain road, it takes another 3 hours time to reach from Salleri. It is long journey with Jeep. There will be tourist standard jeep from Kathmandu till salleri and from Salleri we provide local reserve jeep to Kharikhola. It cost USD 475 in total. If the time is still rainy that makes muddy road, it may takes two days time to reach Kharikhola from Kathmandu. Kharikhola is the point to start Everest trekking by skipping Lukla flight.
