    Kailash Overland Tour from Kerung is formally open from September 2017. Now the Overland Tour to Kailash from this route is possible. We are operating small group departure tour from May till October.  

Kailash Overland Tour from Kerung border is 13 days comfortable program. The journey starts from Kathmandu Nepal to Kerung border through Langtang National Park. This is an alternative route of the Kodari border open from 2017 for Kailash pilgrimage. Kerung itself is about 3000 meters altitude; staying one more day for acclimatization here helps to adjust your body in high altitude. After driving from here, we reach at Tibetan town Saga within a single day. From Saga, it is a day driving to reach Holy Lake Mansarovar. At the bank of Lake Mansarovar, pilgrimages specially worship themselves. A good view of Mount Kailash's south face appears from here. Mount Kailash is secreted and Holy Mountain in western Tibet. Thousand of pilgrimages come to make parikrama of this mountain every year. Mostly pilgrimages are from Indian and China. Remote area of Tibet, Mount Kailash and surroundings is scenic plateau land with scenic Himalayas, big lakes, hot spring and typical Tibetan settlement. Take a part of three days Kailash Parikrama, reaching Kailash North Face, crossing highest pass Dolma La, Gauri Kunda is the toughest part of Yatra.

Mount Kailash is Holy Mountain for four religions and for billions of Peoples. Four religions are Hindu, Buddhist, Jain, and bone. Hindu believes that Mount Kailash is home to Lord Shiva and his beloved Parvathi. They reach at Mount Kailash to have a darshan of Lord Shiva and Parvathi. Buddhist believe Kailash as home as Buddha Demchok, who represents supreme bliss. There are numerous sights around Kailash which represent Padmasambhava (Guru Rinpoche). Guru Rinpoche practices tantric Buddhism in the Kailash region and finally, he established Buddhism as the main religion in Tibet. In Jainism, Mount Kailash is known as Sumeru Parvat. Asthapath next to Mount Kailash is the site where Jain Tirthankara, Rishabhadeva attained Moksa (liberation). Similarly, Bon is native religion to Tibet, they maintain that the entire mystical region and the nine stories Swastika Mountain are the seats of all spiritual mower. Mount Kailash is not allowed to climb due to it being the abode of God.

Kailash Overland Tour

At the foot of Mount Kailash lies holy Lake Mansarovar. Mansarovar is the highest freshwater lake in the world. It is the holiest Lake as an important pilgrimage destination of millions pilgrimage. It is believed that one who takes a bath and drinks its water, all the sins remove done in a lifetime. As per Hindu legacy, Manasarovar was created by Brahma to provide an appropriate place for religious rituals. As per Buddhism, buddha’s mother was transported in this lake by the gods, where she bathed in the sacred water of Lake Mansarovar until her body was purified. She then saw a white elephant running to her from Mount Kailash, as the Buddha entered inside her womb. The pilgrimage also circumambulates the Lake; visit each monastery along the way.

Our 13 days Kailash Tour via Kerung border have enough preparation time in Kathmandu. Have enough acclimatization time at Kerung before entering at high altitude. Day 08:Drive to valley of the God and start Kailash kora. Reach Dirapuk (18km – 7 Hours) 4900m. Overnight at guest house

Day 09:Kailash kora second day, reach at Juthulpuk (4760m) via Dolma La pass, 5613m. (19km – 9 Hours). Overnight at guest house

Day 10:End of Kailash kora. Reach at Saga (16km walk with 3 hoursand driving). overnight at guest house

Day 11:Drive back to Kerung. Overnight at Guest house

Day 12:Drive back to Kathmandu. Overnight at Hotel

Important Note

Booking procedure
Booking is accepted until one month before from departure date. We need at least sox month validity passport scan copy by email and trip confirmation amount. 

Payment policy
INR 10,000 or USD 150 per person is deposit at the time of trip confirmation. You can pay this amount by credit card, via remittance or deposit to our bank account. Rest of the amount is paying on your arrive in Kathmandu Nepal, before heading to Kailash Tour. Paying by cash, by credit card or bank deposit. Paying by credit card charges more 4 %.

Cancellation and refund Policy

  • Cancel your tour once it is confirm as per booking procedure, INR 5,000 per person cancellation charge.
  • Cancel your trip after we apply your permit, INR 10,000 per person is cancelation charge
  • Cancel your trip before 15 days of trip starts, INR 20,000 per person in cancellation charge
  • Cancel in less than 24 hours, cancellation charge is INR 60,000 per person
  • If you return from on the way of trip, no any refund. All the extra expenses of person after group splitting have to bear personally.    


Detail Itinerary

Day 1Arrival at Kathmandu and transfer to Hotel. 1300mRepresentative from Nepal Highland Trek will pick up you from airport and transfer to hotel. If we get time, we can visit Pashupatinath Temple at evening or stay at trip briefing. overnight at Dinner at hotel

Day 2Day in Kathmandu. half day sightseeing and trip preparation. Overnight at Hotel Our guide will take you for sightseeing in major places of Kathmandu valley. Pashupatinath, Bauddhanath and Budhanilkantha. After lunch time stay in trip briefing and rest of the time is for trip preparation

Day 3Drive Kathmandu to Kerung via Syaprubensi (7/8 Hours -140km/ 3,500m) Overnight at local guest house Drive to Friendship Kerung Border from Kathmandu via Shyaprubensi. Start very early from Kathmandu with your packed breakfast to enter Tibet same day. Make immigration formalities in Nepal and Tibet Part. Enter to Tibet and transfer to Tibetan bus. Drive to Kerung and check in Guest house.

Day 4Acclimatization in Kerung. Overnight at Guest house Acclimatization activities and rest in kerung. we make short hiking around the valley. which really help your body to move on altitude. take Lunch prepared by our cooking team than rest at guest house.

Day 5Drive to Saga (230km – 6 hours) 4450m. Overnight at guest house It is driving via high passes with panoramic Mountain View. Decorative Buddhist praying flags at the top of passes are so unique and picturesque. Stop and view several lake views on the way. Reach at saga by crossing Brahmaputra River and overnight at guest house

Day 6Drive to Lake Mansarovar. (370km – 7 Hours) 4580m. overnight at guest house Journey start with full of excitement to see first view of Mount Kailash and lake Mansarovar. Reach at small town Chiu Gumba for overnight. You also can visit Chiu monastery at top hill near bank of Mansarovar. Overnight at guest house

Day 7Exploration around and drive to Darchen (40km – 1 hour) , the base of Kailash. Overnight at guest house Preparation of Kailash kora. Get morning view of lake with sunrise. You will spend more than half day and drive to Darchen for overnight. Bath with Mansarovar water is preferable with most of the pilgrimage. Puja or hawan at bank of the lake, exploration of hot spring near from chiu Gumpa

Day 8Drive to valley of the God and start Kailash kora. Reach Dirapuk (18km – 7 Hours) 4900m. Overnight at guest house We start early drive from Darchen after your breakfast. Our staff will provide you packed lunch for on the way. Drive to valley of the god which is also called Yamadwar. Start walking towards Derapuk. Walking trail is flat land and some minor up hills. Reach at Dehrapuk and have north face of mount Kailash.

Day 9Kailash kora second day, reach at Juthulpuk (4760m) via Dolma La pass, 5613m. (19km – 9 Hours). Overnight at guest house Today is the hardest and most important day of the tour. Start walking very early in the morning. Hardest up hills till Dolma La pass and suddenly downhill towards Gauri Kunda and further trek to Juthulpuk. You will view different faces of Mount Kailash time and again

Day 10End of Kailash kora. Reach at Saga (16km walk with 3 hoursand driving). overnight at guest house We take gentle and easy walk towards Darchen from Juthulpuk. Catch your transportation and drive back to Saga via darchen at same day. On the way you will have chance to take holy water from Mansarovar

Day 11Drive back to Kerung. Overnight at Guest house The same way drive back to Kerung from Saga. If we start our journey earlier, we can cross Nepal Tibet boarder and drive to Shyaprubesi at same day.

Day 12Drive back to Kathmandu. Overnight at Hotel After custom formalities, we reach at Nepal site, take Nepalese transpiration back to Kathmandu. it is 8 to 9 hours journey through narrow road. reach at Kathmandu and transfer to Hotel.

Day 13Departure Till your departure time, free for shopping. You have to reach international airport 3 hours before of your fight time. we manage departure transportation.

Kailash overland tour departure dates might chance as per current situation or as per group interest. Please make sure with us to get any changes before confirming your trip with us. We also can follow your own date for your own private tour. 

We are skiping full moon days departure. During Full moon day in Kailash is more rush and over crowded. Lack of transporation, lack of accommodation and lack of other facilities may distrub whole plan. 


Useful Info

Foods in the trip
Our package is based on group and in full board based. Three times foods every day is including in the cost. Food items are Indian style in Indian group and foreigner style in foreigner group. Foods are all veg during the pilgrimage trip. Our own Nepali staffs from Kathmandu will prepare foods entire trip in case of big group. In the case of small foreigner group, we feed all the foods from local restaurants.   

3 nights’ accommodation in Kathmandu Nepal as per itinerary is in 3 to 4 star category hotel on twin sharing room. Accommodation in entire Kailash region is in guest houses and in group sharing room. Accommodations in Kailash have option to upgrade in deluxe guest houses at available places. It is available only in Kerung, Saga and Darchen. 3 nights’ accommodation in Manasarovar, Derapuk and Juthulpuk do not have option of upgrading. Only basic guest houses are available here in group sharing.  

it is private coach as per group size. For small group, we provide VAN. We provide you Nepali transportation in Nepal site and Tibetan transportation in entire Kailash with air-condition. During Kilash Parikram, vehicles are not allowed. It only allow up to valley of the God.    

Kathmandu is about 1,400 miters you reach first day. Third day of the trip reaches at Kerung (Nepal Tibet boarder) which is 3,500 miters (Tibet site). Everyone is staying there for 2 nights and doing some fitness activities like hiking and walking. This is much helpful to acclimatize your body in high altitude. Next day saga is 4,550 miter altitude. We stay almost in same altitude for another 3 nights which is again more acclimatized and helpful to reach 5,645 miters Dolma La pass during Kailash Kora.
