Pikey Peak Trekking is trekking in lower Khumbu region. It is one of the newly open short trekking trails in Nepal. Pikey peak is one of the tallest hill in Khumbu region. The view from this peak is may be the best view anywhere from Nepal. Sir Edmund Hillary (First Everest climber) has claimed that, it is his best point to view Mount Everest and other panoramic mountains like Kanchenjunga, Dhaulagiri, Makalu, Gauri Shanker, Annapurna, Lhotse, Thamserku, Mera peak and may more. Take pleasure of the scenic landscape along with Sherpa culture as you walk along this trail. It is also opportunity to get unique cultures, life style and practice of Sherpa cast. The beautiful monasteries, stupas and landscape are amazing experience. This trekking is suitable for those who are looking for short trekking in newly open trekking area without any crowded of any other trekkers. 

6 days trekking is starting and ending in Kathmandu. The total days of itinerary is 10 days including arrival and departure days, day in Kathmandu to explore in major UNESCO heritage sites. The first day of trekking is driving with 4wheel jeep towards Dhap Bazzar Okhardhunga district. Pleasant walking of another 2 days through beautiful landscape reaches at Pikey peak. Trekking ends at Phaplu. Take adventure flight back with tiny aircraft to Kathmandu from Phaplu.

Accommodation on the way trekking is all basic guest houses as local home stay. Hotels and professional guest houses are still not have build in this region. We use local foods prepared by local house owner. The best season of this trekking is from March to May and September to November. If you are planning to trek this route in flower blooming season, you feel luckier. Place is rich of different flowers including Rhododendron, Orchid and Mongolia flowers. Nepal Highland Treks suggest taking this trekking to make new experience of real Nepalese villages and best views of mountain and landscape.

  • Day 01:Arrive at Tribhuban International Airport Kathmandu (1350m). Transfer to Hotel
  • Day 02:Drive with 4wheel drive to Dhap Bazzar 2,850m. (7 Hours) Overnight at local tea house
  • Day 03:Trekking to Jhapre 2,815m (5 hours) overnight at local tea house
  • Day 04:Trek to Pikey Peak base camp 3,585m (5/6 Hours) Overnight at local tea house
  • Day 05:Trek to Pikey Peak (4,065m) and further to Junbesi 2,680m (6/7 Hours) Overnight at local tea house
  • Day 06:Exploration trip to Thupten Chholing Gompa 2920m (4 hours) Back to Junbesi and Overnight at tea house
  • Day 07:Trek to Phaplu 2,380m. (4 Hours) Overnight at local tea house
  • Day 08:Morning fly back to Kathmandu and transfer to hotel
  • Day 09:Reserve day in Kathmandu.

  • Day 01:Arrive at Tribhuban International Airport Kathmandu (1350m). Transfer to Hotel

    Representative from Nepal highland treks receive you from international airport and drive to hotel. Meet and talk about your trip, introduce your guide and porter. Stay in briefing and final preparation of the trip. 

  • Day 02:Drive with 4wheel drive to Dhap Bazzar 2,850m. (7 Hours) Overnight at local tea house

    After breakfast in Hotel, start driving to Dhap Bazzra via Okhaldhunga. Driving path is through Sun Koshi, later Tama Koshi and it become Koshi River. Passing several country side villages with sub tropical forest of Pine to dense forest of Rhododendron flowers. Take very simple Nepali food on the way. You will find beautiful landscapes and valleys until driving to Dhap Bazzar.   

  • Day 03:Trekking to Jhapre 2,815m (5 hours) overnight at local tea house

    After breakfast in local tea house, starts trekking to Jhapre. Starting trekking trail is newly open dusty road. Although view of beautiful valley and far view of panoramic mountains are nice from your walk. Reach at Jhapre village. Explore monastery and Stupa here. Nice view of Mount Everest and Numbur Himal can be seen from this village. 

  • Day 04:Trek to Pikey Peak base camp 3,585m (5/6 Hours) Overnight at local tea house

    It is gentle ascending walking through the Pine and Rhododendron forest today. The awesome mountain sceneries of Mount Everest, Numbur and eastern Himalayan range along the walking. Small tea houses on the way where we take lunch and drinks.  Several villages on the way is interesting to visit. We cross the wide grazing field of yak and ship one the way, long mani walls. Reach at Pikey base camp and overnight.  

  • Day 05:Trek to Pikey Peak (4,065m) and further to Junbesi 2,680m (6/7 Hours) Overnight at local tea house

    Early in the morning hike to Pikey peak. It is about an hour steep walking. Very clear sunrise view from the top with dramatic mountain all around of Everest range, Kanchenjunga, Manaslu, Dhaulagiri, Annapurna range, Langtang range and more. Get back to down via stone trail and forest of Rhododendron and Pine. Reach at Junbesi and visit oldest monasteries and explore around the village. It is big village with several nice local lodges.   

  • Day 06:Exploration trip to Thupten Chholing Gompa 2920m (4 hours) Back to Junbesi and Overnight at tea house

    Morning after breakfast, you can hike to Thupten Chholing Gompa (2920m) for round trip 3 hours. The trail goes along Junbesi Khola with gentle climbing up hill. The Gompa was founded in 19th Century and practiced by Tibetan Buddhism. Then same way back to Junbesi. You may enjoy the meditation with local nuns and monks in the Monastery and explore the village. 

  • Day 07:Trek to Phaplu 2,380m. (4 Hours) Overnight at local tea house

    Our strting walk on the dirt road along the Junbesi Khola until reaching Benighat. We than continue to walk on the dirt motor able road until reaching Bhagbani, then short walk up hill to Phaplu (2380m). We have to spent a night here to catch flight back to Kathmandu or 9 hours drive by local jeep next day. Here are plenty of nice lodges to stay.

  • Day 08:Morning fly back to Kathmandu and transfer to hotel

    Fly back to Kathmandu from Phaplu at morning time. It is 35 minutes flight. In case of flight cancellation because of weather or any technical, we may take local jeep back to Kathmandu or wait for next day flight. Evening farewell dinner at typical Nepali restaurant with cultural shows. 

  • Day 09:Reserve day in Kathmandu.

    It is reserve day in Kathmandu. In case of flight cancellation first day of Phaplu Kathmandu or delay. We can take you to major monuments to visit around Kathmandu valley. Bhaktapur Durbar squire, Bauddhanath stupa and Pashupatinath temple. 

  • Day 10:Departure

    It is final departure day. you have to be there in international airport before 3 hours of your original flight time. we manage to drop you there.
