Manaslu comes from the Sanskrit word Manasa meaning intellect or soul. Manaslu means mountain of the Spirit. Manaslu is the eight highest mountains in the world. Manaslu trekking trail follows an ancient salt–trading route along the Budhi Gandaki River. This trek starts Gorkha and ends at Lamjung. Manaslu Trek comprises from sub-tropical Himalayan foothills to arid Trans-Himalayan high pastures bordering Tibet. The route passes through green foothills, crosses several gorges, pine-forest, villages and Buddhist shrine. The highest point reached along the trek route is the Larkya Pass at an elevation of 5,235 meters (17,175 ft.)

The villages of Arughat, Lapubeshi, Doban, Phidim, Lo, Dharamasala Samdo, samagoan, Bumtang, tilche Jagatis inhabited by Gurung, Lama and Bhotias. This place has unique and rich in culture. The view of snow capped peaks like Annapurna massif; Cheo Himal, Himlung Himal and Kang Guru and Manaslu are clearly visible from near.

This area has recently been for trekking; never the less trekking in the region around Manaslu is a lifetime's experience. The trails are relatively less tourists than other trekking routes. The culture and traditions of the people are intact, and the scenery is magnificent. This trek follows a route that has long been covered by Himalayan buffs, going north behind Himalchuli (7,893 m.) Peak 29 (7,835 m.) and Mt. Manasalu (8,118 m.) It explores villages where westerners are still a rare sight and the way of life unchanged for decades, even centuries. Starting from Gorkha (the ancestral home of the Nepalese monarchy and of the famous Nepalese Infantrymen, the trail passes through primitive villages where the people are shy, often running away from the camera wielding trekkers. From Nyak the trails continue westward towards Namru via the Village of Ghap.

Larke Pass (5,213m) in this trekking is highest and tough crossing. Almost about 9 hours walking through icy route but still not technical. The magnificent view of Himalayas from top of it is lifetime experience. We finally reach at Annapurna region to finish the trek. This trekking is name as Manaslu Round Trekking and Manaslu Circuit Trekking.
