Restricted Trekking Area in Nepal

There is some trekking region which is strictly controlling to enter international tourist by Government of Nepal. There are certain rules and regulations for operating trekking in those restricted areas of Nepal. Most of the restricted region lies behind the rain shadow area of Himalayas. Few trekkers visit the area every year. Registered Nepalese trekking companies are only allowed to run trekking in these areas so that every tourist has to get a connection with registered trekking companies in Nepal. Trekking companies make special permits through the Government of Nepal, Department of Immigration. There should be a minimum of 2 pax trekkers to operate trekking.

Most of the restricted trekking area is organized based trekking. Tents for sleeping and all the foods have to supply from main cities. A government-approved license holder guide should present in every checking point. Supporters carry all foods and necessary goods during trekking. Some of the restricted trekking areas have built basic accommodation and restaurants to provide food. Upper Mustang, Manaslu and Tsum valley are settled with basic tea houses. The rest of, Upper Dolpo, Kanchenjunga, Rara Lake, Dhaulagiri, Makalu, and Simikot Limi valley still have to do with organized trekking. Those trekking areas are less crowded.
